Scope of Work: Mayfield Residence is a sixty unit, three-storey facility designed for independent community living. The building design seeks to reinterpret the vernacular of small town Ontario as part of a larger building collective. The massing embraces the natural horizontal elements of the traditional rural landscape that is characteristic to Mayfield and Caledon. A central interior courtyard acts as both the project's hearth and strong orientation device. The private amenity space includes a community garden and barbecue area. The overall composition emphasizes the natural heritage of the region, providing an attractive, highly desirable, and vibrant community design. The building features large glazing elements to provide abundant light and visual connectivity for the residents, which also support and animate the elevations and streetscape.
